Kirtee began his professional journey in architectural lighting design in 2010 at the Kalpataru Group in Mumbai, India. By 2012, he had established his own independent lighting design practice, focusing on architectural spaces where visual perception and emotional narratives take centre stage. Over the years, he has carved a niche for himself, specializing in luxurious hospitality projects, opulent residences, and captivating light-art installations.
For Kirtee, light is more than a tool—it’s a language. Every ray of light, every shadow, the subtlest shift in hue, and the faintest variation in reflectance has the power to transform a spectator’s experience. Each element must be meticulously crafted to achieve the desired effect. He finds equal fascination in the science of lighting—mastering cutting-edge controls and software—and in its artistry, where light becomes both a medium and the main subject. Yet, this passion is tempered by the profound realisation that lighting extends beyond aesthetics and perceptual psychology; it dominates our sensory systems and influences the well-being of all living beings. To Kirtee, lighting is a boundless field, one so vast that a single lifetime feels insufficient to explore its full potential.
Inspiration, for him, is not confined to galleries or grand structures—it’s everywhere. A sliver of light filtering through ancient ruins, the quiet dance of shadows at dusk, the way a city breathes through its architecture. He observes, absorbs, and translates these moments into his work. Art, nature, and the subtleties of everyday life shape his vision, refining his instinct for balance and emotion. This deep sensitivity to the interplay of light and space defines his approach, allowing him to design with intuition, not just technique.
His eye is trained to find beauty in the unnoticed—in fleeting moments, forgotten corners, and the ever-shifting dialogue between light and form. It’s this awareness that transforms observation into creation, shaping spaces that feel alive.
How light moves, how it interacts, how it connects with those who inhabit a space—these are the questions that guide his work. In his hands, illumination is not just a function but an art form.
